**Labour Relations Specialist**

The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) employs approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington and the City of Guelph. The UGDSB covers the ancestral and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Six Nations of the Grand River, and Saugeen Ojibway Nation.

The Upper Grand District School Board is seeking a dynamic individual leader to join our Human Resources team and assist in managing the Board’s labour relations activities.

**LOCATION**:Guelph Board Office**:

- **500 Victoria Road N, Guelph, ON

**SALARY**:$82,044 to $102,555 per annum (under review); 40-hours per week

**BOARD INFORMATION**:1.0 FTE; 12 months; permanent, full-time; Administrative Employees

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Employee and Labour Relations Manager, you will provide guidance, direction, and support to supervisors with performance management and labour relations matters. This will include conducting workplace investigations (inclusive of harassment complaints), preparing and communicating the findings, and providing post-investigation mediation where appropriate. You will maintain effective union/management relationships and will be responsible for preparing, attending, and representing the Board at mediation, arbitration and hearings as required. You will assist in preparation and attendance at Collective Bargaining as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in industrial relations, labour relations or human resources management combined with a CHRP or CHRL designation or qualifications/experience deemed equivalent by the Board
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in progressive labour relations roles, in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated experience in supporting clients to specifically address and manage performance
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) with a proven track record of investigating complaints and resolving issues
- Demonstrated strong conflict resolution, problem solving and negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational and computer skills combined with the ability to work under pressure in a high-volume working environment
- Team player and relationship builder with excellent customer service skills
- Ability to adjust work schedule to accommodate organizational needs, (i.e. internal investigation)
- Flexibility to accomplish other duties as assigned
- A valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle is required
