**Position Summary**

Working within the Education Department and under the direction and supervision of the College Program Manager the Adult Dogwood Instructor teaches a variety of Adult Education courses. This position will assist our students towards their Adult Dogwood Diploma and supports students who seek to obtain a trade or vocational certificate in their work plan.

This is a term position and will end June 30, 2024, with a possibility of extension.

**What you’ll do**

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Deliver and meet the standards for instructional hours as guided by BC Ministry of Education;
- Meet all reporting and assessment deadlines associated with regulatory bodies;
- Ensure that Progress Monitoring is delivered and reported monthly;
- Lesson planning and activity preparation as required by administration;
- Deliver and develop instructional systems focused on literacy and numeracy;
- Create an engaging and encouraging environment for adult learners;
- Be consistent with schedules and deadlines;
- Implement effective classroom management strategies;
- Participate in constructive evaluations and act on areas for improvement;
- Participate in initiatives that increase student motivation;
- Prepare student progress reports and final grades;
- Complete monthly program reports and progress assessment of;
- Provide attendance reports, participate in initiatives to improve attendance;
- Undertake effective classroom management strategies, assessment and exam oversight;
- Instill understanding of Stó:lō people;
- Assessment and exam oversight, providing regular formal and informal assessments and feedback to students.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, or the ED

**What you bring**
- Bachelor of Education and member of the BC Teacher Regulation Branch;
- Experience working in First Nations education literacy and numeracy environment;
- Experience teaching and coordinating work experience courses as part of an Adult Dogwood requirement;
- Experience in undertaking work readiness and work placement;
- Ability to work with students with diverse needs;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Professional with high ethical standards and a role model within the First Nations community;
- Demonstrated effective public engagement and presentation skills.
- Must be motivated and able to work as part of a small team, and with mínimal supervision, to present opportunities and follow through, and to think outside the box in promoting student success.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proven analytical/critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to maintain student, staff, document, and records confidentiality
- Knowledge of the Stó:lò culture and Halq’eméylem language is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of MS 365 Office Suite; outlook, word, excel.
- Ability to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island Band Policies and Procedure.
- Knowledge and respect of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations com
