**Position Summary**

This College Instructor position will tutor students in anatomy, physiology, and biology to prepare them for their upcoming entrance into the Licensed Practical Nursing program. The College Instructor will collaborate with other instructors, create engaging and encouraging learning environment for students, and provided evaluations of students to support their improvement.

This is a term position that ends December 31, 2023 with a possibility of extension.

**What you’ll do**
- Provide course instruction in biology 12 and anatomy and physiology 12.
- Manage and ensure the completion of the online curriculum.
- Act as Student support and Supplementary teacher.
- Utilize best practices regarding classroom management to foster student persistence and success.
- Lesson planning and activity preparation as required by administration.
- Maintain high expectations for all students and a deep belief that all students can learn.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop curriculum.
- Create engaging and encouraging environments for all learners.
- Participate in constructive evaluations and act on areas for improvement.
- Provide attendance reports, participate in initiatives to improve attendance.
- Prepare student progress reports and final grades.
- Develop a cohesive, safe, and positive learning environment for students.
- Model a personal code of ethics aligned with Seabird Island and Seabird College.
- Attending staff and other meetings as assigned.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council

**What you bring**

**Education**
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with some graduate coursework in education and experience in adult education, developmental education, or post-secondary education.

**Skills/Experience**
- Experience teaching nursing sciences and/or college credit coursework.
- Two years related experience in adult education.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate lesson plans, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to work with students with diverse needs.
- Strong leadership and classroom management skills.
- Ability to respond to students with diverse needs and educational backgrounds.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
- High professional and ethical standards with a commitment to the principles and values of the First Nations communities.
