Marketing Summer Student Job Description

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY Assist the Shopping Centre Manager and Retail Marketing Coordinator in the delivery and growth of the Shopping Centre’s social media strategy and event programming calendar.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE This position reports directly to the Shopping Centre Manager, with dotted line to the Retail Marketing Coordinator.
CUSTOMER ORIENTATION Primary stakeholders are the shopping centre’s retail merchants and the shopping public; with a secondary focus on internal team members, suppliers, and owner clients.
HOURS OF WORK Normal hours of work generally fall within the regular business hours of the shopping centre’s Administration office; however, flexibility is key to attend, oversee, and coordinate promotional and marketing endeavors during evenings and weekends, especially around peak holiday seasons.
SOCIAL MEDIA / GIFT CARD PROGRAM
- Develop and foster regular communication and relationships with retail merchants, the shopping public, stakeholders, community groups, suppliers, and co-workers under the direction of the marketing coordinator.
- Collaborate on monthly content calendars and organic content for the shopping centre’s various social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook).
- Under the direction of Retail Marketing Coordinator, curate brand partnerships with local social media influencers. Coordinate content, purchasing of gift cards, and scheduling of posts.
- Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator and Shopping Centre Manager in the implementation of a new gift card program. Communicate with retailers and coordinate onboarding activities to ensure participation and proper set up.

EVENTS AND PROGRAMMING
- Assist with the coordinated planning and successful execution of on-site events at the Shopping Centre. This includes but is not limited to event set-up, take-down, retailer coordination, communicating with vendors, social media, etc.
- Act as the secondary customer liaison with those booking venues at the shopping centre, responding to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner, and ensuring all needs are met and prepared for in advance and while in use.
- Preparing post-event summaries and recaps for ownership
- Follow booking and approval procedures and communicate with various stakeholders regarding specific arrangements, documentation, and insurance requirements; manage internal resources and providing direction and follow up for effective operation of venue.
