DESCRIPTION:
The Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre is a community-funded, registered charity, established in 2013. The Centre is located in Pembroke and provides free services to an average of 1,500 individuals annually throughout Renfrew County. Working with existing organizations and agencies, the Robbie Dean Centre develops and implements programs and services to meet the needs of the community by working towards closing some of the mental health system gaps. The Centre is committed to providing programs that use a proactive approach to deliver unique and preventative mental health support services.

We are hiring for a Mental Health Counsellor to join our clinical team. This is a full-time position providing individual counselling and working 35 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Interview clients, prepare case histories, and assess problems
- Develop and implement counselling care plans by conducting individual counselling sessions
- Collect and manage case information to maintain client files using a database
- May facilitate group sessions both virtual and face-to-face
- Knowledge of mental health services legislation, privacy health legislation, and other relevant legislation
- May be required to provide community-based education workshops
- May participate in fundraising activities

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum education level of postgraduate college diploma in social service work or mental health and addiction studies
- Must have a minimum of five years of counselling experience
- Ability to set short-term objectives and use a solution-focused approach
- Ability to clinically manage high-risk cases, including clients who are a threat to themselves or others
- Able to work with individuals and possess sound knowledge of community resources
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to handle a large volume of clients
- High professionalism and adherence to ethical principles of conduct

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

**Terms**:

- The main work location is in Pembroke with work in the Renfrew location a minimum of one day per week.
- Must have the ability to undergo a successful criminal record vulnerable sector search.
- Remuneration is based on experience.
