As a municipal Energy Analyst, working under the guidance of the Corporate Facility Management Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving this mission. Your role will entail crucial responsibilities such as energy management planning, vigilant oversight of utility costs, meticulous tracking of energy consumption, and the proactive recommendation of energy-saving initiatives throughout the organization that will lead the City of Grande Prairie toward a more sustainable future.

Organization:
The Corporate Facility Management department delivers services in four distinct areas: Project Management, Asset Management, Energy Management and Facility Maintenance. **Your Key Responsibilities**

The Energy Analyst will be the face of energy management within the organization and is responsible for conservation measures, expenditure reduction strategies, technical solutions, utility and resource data collection, analysis and reporting, and other specialized energy management program services. In addition, the energy analyst will provide advice to the organization, and associated working groups, to develop sustainability strategies aimed at resource conservation and greenhouse gas emission mitigation. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Monitoring energy consumption of all City-owned sites (including streetlights)
- Energy budget forecasting and variance reporting
- Energy benchmarking to track energy usage, compare energy consumption to similar buildings, and determine energy inadequacies in City facilities
- Measurement and verification of energy projects (e.g. Transit Solar Array, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS ) and the Eastlink Combined Heat & Power (CHP))
- Conducting internal studies for potential GHG emission reduction projects such as fleet conversion and bi-annual reporting
- Developing business cases for efficiency and renewable capital projects
- Quarterly and year-end progress reports highlighting the progress of energy management planning, energy-savings projects, and other deliverables
- Writing and delivering reports catering to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Public engagement as required specific to energy management

**You Will Need**:
This Education:

- A minimum five years of relevant work experience in the field of energy management
- Degree, diploma, or certification in a related field (e.g. Energy Management, Engineering, Building Sciences, Business Admin, etc.)
Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Energy Manager in Training (EMIT), or equivalents would be considered an asset
- Certification as a Certified RETScreen Expert or eligibility to obtain this certification

These Skills & Qualifications:

- A comprehensive understanding of Alberta’s utility system and the ability to analyze and recommend cost-saving opportunities
- Knowledge of energy codes and best practices (ASHRAE, NECB, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize, evaluate, and interpret energy data and trends
- Knowledge of energy audits, energy-efficient technologies and infrastructure
- The ability to identify issues/gaps/opportunities through technical analyses and collaborate with key staff
- The ability to analyze, interpret, and provide recommendations for procurement on energy contracts

This Experience:

- Excellent communication skills to influence, guide, and educate internal and external stakeholders on energy consumption, energy efficiency, and emissions data
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Asset Management Systems would be considered an asset

The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
