**The role**:
As Counsel you will report to the Vice President, Enforcement and assist in the review and assessment of cases involving practices that violate CPAB Rules or auditing standards. In this role, you will work collaboratively within the Enforcement team to conduct and oversee fair and timely investigations by gathering and assessing evidence, exercising sound judgment in determining whether enforcement action is warranted and necessary to address significant audit deficiencies or conduct related issues. In this role, there will be opportunity to leverage your experience to assist in the development of enforcement-related policies and procedures and help enhance CPAB’s regulatory effectiveness. Counsel will also be a valuable resource to the inspections team, collaborating on concerns and providing legal advice.

**You have the following qualifications and competencies**:

- Practising membership with the Law Society of Ontario or eligibility for membership.
- Minimum 2 years of recent practice experience in administrative law, securities law, litigation or a combination thereof (experience gained during the Articling or Law Practice Program will be considered as part of the 2-year minimum requirement).
- Skilled at organizing and reviewing complex regulatory matters and issues.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, concise, well-written reports and correspondence.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in both one on one and group situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build effective working relationships across an organization.

**What you will be doing**:

- Assessing violations of CPAB’s Rules and professional standards by audit firms and conducting an analysis of the violations in accordance with CPAB’s risk based graduated regulatory intervention framework.
- Preparing and presenting reports outlining alleged violations, evidence gathered, and proposed enforcement action options.
- Collaborating and providing guidance and advice to CPAB inspectors.
- Drafting enforcement related documents and correspondence to audit firms, legal counsel and other external stakeholders.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of enforcement related policies and procedures.
- Assisting with data base maintenance and administration.
