**(Casual/ Relief) Residential Coordinator, Marjorie Amos Residence**
- **The Casual/Relief Residential Caseworker is required to work and or be available for various shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.**_

Marjorie Amos Residence (MAR) is an open detention / open custody facility that provides services and programming to females between the ages of 12-18, who have recently come into conflict with the law. MAR offers a residential environment where residents can explore behavioural patterns, decision-making skills, foster important life skills and develop pro-social attitudes as it relates to themselves and others in the community. As an all female residence, this gender-responsive program provides the framework and foundation for residents to develop the skills necessary to reintegrate from an institutional setting to the community in positive and sustainable ways.

The Residential Coordinator is responsible for supporting and implementing the EFRY Hope and Help for Women program philosophies and policies. Reporting directly to the Assistant Manager, the individual will be part of the Marjorie Amos Residence team and will assist in the development of the program and supervision of the staff team.

The Residential Coordinator is scheduled to work various hours, which includes working on a rotating shift schedule - consisting of two different shifts (7:00 AM-3:00 PM | 3:00 PM-11:00 PM). Participation in 24/7 on call rotation is also required.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Provides direct services to clients in accordance with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, Agency and Residential Policy and Procedure Manuals
- Evaluates and records each youths’ development on an ongoing basis as they relate to the youths’ requirements (i.e. prepare daily observations, progress reports, plan programs)
- Assesses and works with clients to assist implementing a strategic plan of care and provides ongoing support - this may include consulting with parents/guardians and other professionals to gather information about the youth in order to develop effective case management plans
- Conducts and oversees daily wake-ups, chores, school, meal preparation, programming, visits and bedtime routines in accordance with pre-established procedures
- Maintains all security and safety systems (i.e. inventories, fire checks, searches, bed checks, etc.)
- Supervises and participates in pre-planned recreational programming and special events
- Supervise visits and virtual court proceedings
- Escorts clients to appointments and transport to home region upon release
- Assists in the training of new staff in all aspects of the program, including shifts, duties, timetables, routines, and the overall philosophy of the Residence and the Agency
- Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the youth care profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate
- A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations; prior experience working with female-identifying youth is considered an asset
- The ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to engage, support, and interact with clients using a trauma-informed approach
- Practical knowledge and experience facilitating gender specific and responsive programming
- A thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth
- Knowledge of relevant legislations and a strong understanding of case management principles
- Demonstrated client-focused counselling skills and role modelling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven leadership skills and strong knowledge of community resources
- Ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique needs and qualities of each client
- Diagnostic and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client group in a diplomatic and non-judgmental manner
- Problem solving and leadership skills, with the ability to judiciously handle crisis situations with clients
- A broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and make professional referrals
- Valid First Aid / CPR certification
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) - criminal background check
- A valid Ontario driver’s license, having been insured for 3+ years
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 (at least 2 doses) and able to provide proof
