- The Schoolhouse—Built in 1839 and located in Peggy’s Cove, NS, The Schoolhouse has been a place of learning and worship, a community gathering space, and—since 1958, when it ceased to be a school—the scene of artistic presentation. The Schoolhouse returns to its decades old tradition of educating through entertaining. The Schoolhouse is operated by the Peggy’s Cove Centre for Arts & Culture as its main performance venue._

We are seeking a Seasonal Part-timer who enjoys the world of arts, culture and tourism, will provide quality customer service to patrons attending events in the performing arts venue, assist in event preparation and conclusion and effectively assist patrons.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Arrive on-time in appropriate dress for scheduled shifts.
- Assist with event programs. Duties include distribution of programs to visitors of Peggy’s Cove, store and visitor centre.
- Attend Pre-Event briefing for job assignment and event specifics.
- Regular assignments will include selling tickets via point of sales system, handing out programs, escorting patrons to seats, cleaning/refreshing of venue between shows and end of day.
- Be in assigned area by designated time.
- Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout event for safety, cleanliness and functionality; contact the Coordinator, with questions, comments, or concerns.
- Respond quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
- At event’s end, walk through assigned area retrieving lost items and turn them in accordingly.
- In case of emergency, actively assist in safeguarding patrons.
- Ability and willingness to work any assignment, including duties not listed within the scope of this job description.

**Required Skills/Knowledge**
- Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures.
- Actively assist with established emergency procedures. (Familiar with location of exits and use of emergency equipment such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher.)
- Assist patrons with disability-related issues.
- Ability to provide accurate knowledge to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e. location of ticket office, restrooms, etc.), information about the event, general building history, etc.
- Ability to stand for long periods, sometimes throughout an entire event.
- Adhere to dress code.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Demonstrates good judgment and makes sound decisions.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with honesty, openness, respect, and trust.
- Takes initiative to participate in a culture of learning, mentoring, and sharing.
- Contributes to building and being a part of a positive culture.

**Showtimes**
Approximately 20 show dates per month

11 AM / 12:30 PM / 2 PM
Run time: 30 minutes

Ability to commute:

- Peggy’s Cove, NS: reliably commute (required)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 2-3 months
Part-time hours: 5-30 per week

**Salary**: $15.00-$16.00 per hour

- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:
