KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- As the Manager, New Product Development you will:
- Introduce new ambulance, vehicles, and subsystem designs, under the client’s brand in Canada and the USA.
- Creation and introduction of new, or improved, revenue streams for the manufacturing business
- Formation of a motivated, innovative engineering department.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define the product strategy, including identifying market opportunities, analyzing customer needs, and setting product goals and objectives.
- Work closely with your design and engineering team to develop innovative product concepts and features that align with market demands and company objectives. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to ensure your product stands out in the industry.
- Create and manage project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate and communicate with internal teams involved in the product development process, such as design, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing.
- Oversee the prototyping and testing phases to ensure the product meets quality standards and customer requirements. Collect and analyze data from prototype testing to make informed decisions and refine product designs.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors for necessary components and materials. Establish strong relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure a reliable supply chain for the production phase.
- Stay updated on automotive industry regulations, standards, and safety requirements. Ensure that all products comply with relevant regulations and obtain necessary certifications and approvals.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and sales, to develop effective product positioning, pricing strategies, and marketing plans. Support sales teams with product training and provide technical expertise as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by analyzing customer feedback, conducting post-launch evaluations, and identifying areas for enhancement or new product iterations.
- Lead and inspire your team of engineers, designers, and technicians. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to help them succeed in their roles and achieve project goals.
- Stay informed about market trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities. Leverage this knowledge to identify new opportunities for product development and make strategic decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
**As the Manager, New Product Development, you will bring**:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is an asset, ideally with experience in a low volume high variety manufacturing.
- Strong business acumen with a background in financial feasibility analysis
- 3 to 5 years leadership experience in the automotive industry with that zest for innovation and motivation.
- Proven experience in dealing effectively with business functions, including, but not limited to, sales, marketing, operations and after sales service.
- Strong familiarity within mechanical and electrical CAD/CAM environment, including Autodesk Inventor, Vault, illogic, Zuken’s E3.
- Capable comprehension of Configurator Price Quotes (CPQ) software with a preference for Quoteworks and Cincom’s CPQ.
- Expertise in an MRP/ERP manufacturing environment, including SAP Business One is ideal.
- A self-motivated, data driven mind-set with a strong business acumen and drive for growth.
- Strategic and visionary with a systematic approach to project execution and success.
