Asitu'l~sk requires someone who can make a long-term commitment to manage operations and help Ulnooweg maintain and grow the property in accordance with UEC’s vision. Working from Etuaptmumk and Netukulimk, the Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the property and ongoing programs and events.

**Roles & Responsibilities**
- Manage the site from the workforce management to the facilities to the forest. Establish and implement a plan for building and landscape maintenance Cycle.
- Liase with the Coordinator to manage and support ongoing events, scheduling and address any guest complaints or concerns
- Coordinate with department leads on special projects and programs hosted on site
- Establish and manage volunteer program to support additional needs and activities on the property
- manage charitable donations on site and liaise with the finance department
- Coordinate and oversee multiple tasks, activities and personnel simultaneously
- Demonstrate Respect for the earth and the principles of Etuaptmumk and Netukulimk
- Develop creative and forward-thinking future aspirations for the property
- Manage reservations and multiple guests and large group bookings
- participate in employee programs to develop best practices in mental health, cultural sensitivity training, the Piteway & Elder programming, staff retreats, and other initiatives offered by Ulnooweg.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience or willingness to learn and understand working with diverse knowledge systems. Particularly in the understanding of Etuaptmumk; the gift of multiple perspectives or: Two Eyed seeing and a commitment to practices that align with Netukulimk.
- Background in the hospitality industry is an asset
- Project management experience is an asset
- Excellent organizational skills
- Bookkeeping experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple and often conflicting expectations.
- Basic building maintenance knowledge and handy person skills
- Knowledge and experience of HWA or other invasive species is an asset
- Experience with Indigenous organizations, communities, elders, youth, and knowledge holders
- Well-developed oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills are required to interact with colleagues, partners, contractors, and especially with the public in a variety of forums.
- Exceptional teamwork skills including collaboration, negotiation, diplomacy, tact, and sensitivity are required to ensure common goals are achieved constructively.
- Ability to convey enthusiasm about land-based learning, Indigenous connections to land, water, forestry, and property management;
- Ability to empathize with and advocate for marginalized groups and individuals, cultural sensitivity, humility, and openness to new ideas.

**Working Conditions**:

- Looking forward to being physically active There is much walking, standing, bending, and stooping. You must be able to lift 40lbs without assistance and be comfortable working outdoors and walking the property (hills and small spaces)

**About Asitu'l~sk**

Asitu'l~sk (pronounced ah-see-dew-lisk) translated to English from Mi'kmaw means That Which Gives You Balance.

At Ulnooweg Education Centre, Asitu'l~sk serves as a sanctuary for Indigenous Communities and beyond to practice ceremony, hold events, and host educational programming. A ten-minute drive from Bridgewater on the South Shore of the LaHave watershed. On this 200-acre property you will find a central lodge conference space, cabins, a 19th century farmhouse, streams, hiking trails, gardens, greenhouses, and a woodshop, all situated within a generational old growth forest. As a safe haven for Indigenous ceremonies and events, this pristine forest evokes a connection to land and water.

Ulnooweg envisions the property being a safe space for all people, Indigenous and non, to come and heal, grow, reconnect to the earth and forest, and experience meaningful on-the-land learning. Ulnooweg is the steward of the land and natural resources Asitu'l~sk has to offer, while also renovating existing structures in order to make the space Indigenous-centric. Our vision includes traditional medicine gardens, an art performance centre, and an observatory.

**Salary**: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
