We are seeking a Technical Assistant to work in the Transmission Overhead & Civil Engineering Department. Under the direction of
the Structural Design Engineer and within a team environment of engineers and technical staff, you will perform engineering design
and analysis, as well as work with and prepare engineering drawings for the new construction, upgrading, restoration, and
maintenance of Transmission Civil Infrastructure.

**_Responsibilities:_**
- Design project elements as directed and analyse moderately complex engineering problems using standard tools and

methods on projects related to structures and foundations for substations, overhead transmission, microwave communication,
and other civil infrastructure.
- Determine the arrangement of components and connections and confirm material requirements based on information received

for equipment drawings and specifications.
- Independently prepare engineering drawings in accordance with Enterprise/Industry Standards and drafting best practices

using two
- or three-dimensional drafting software, liaising as required with internal departments and, under limited supervision,
external fabricators.
- Perform moderately complex calculations required for the preparation of detailed engineering drawings and bills of material,

including exact dimensions, locations, quantities, weight take-offs, and all other information necessary for each individual
component to be fabricated and constructed in accordance with its design.
- Under limited supervision, respond to queries related to material procurement and construction.
- Assist with training of junior staff, including preliminary review of drafting work.
- Contribute to the development of best drafting practices.
- Conduct or lead field trips to determine site conditions, perform field assessments, evaluate work required, and assemble
- design data.
- Conduct quality control inspections at manufacturers' plants to ensure conformity of fabrication with design.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- A two-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an institute of recognized standing and two years of directly related

experience.
OR
- Grade 12 graduation and a one-year certificate in Civil Technician or Drafting/CAD from an institute of recognized standing

and three years of directly related experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in designing project elements and analysing moderately complex engineering problems.
- Demonstrated previous experience with BoCAD or Advance Steel 3D modelling software would be considered an asset.

- Demonstrated initiative to maintain and upgrade technical knowledge, including learning to use new software as required.
- Good knowledge of Corporate policies, procedures and regulations.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

**_ Salary Range_**

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.94-$44.18 Hourly,
$61,202.96-$84,652.88 Annually.
