**Summary**
Garnett Capital Corporation (GCC) is a private capital firm located in Victoria, British Columbia. Predominantly investing in Commercial Real Estate and the Equities Markets, GCC is continually and responsibly growing its portfolio of investments. GCC is looking to onboard an Administrative Assistant with prior experience in bookkeeping. We have real estate holdings across Vancouver Island, throughout much of Canada, and the United States. GCC is a respectful, professional, and collaborative work environment.
**The Role**
GCC is hiring for an Administrative Assistant with a strong level of organization, attention to detail, proactivity, communication, stakeholder management, and a competent level of bookkeeping literacy. We desire to find someone who requires mínimal training and ongoing oversight because we are a lean team. This is a dynamic role, but our organization always takes due time to make decisions and therefore does not operate at the breakneck pace often experienced elsewhere.
The core responsibilities within the role are to:
- Answer telephone and relay telephone calls and messages
- Distribute/post mail and send out group mailings
- File documents (electronic and paper)
- Order office supplies and maintain inventory
- Support and assist and occasionally fill in for controller with Accounts Payable/Accounts
- Receivables and Payroll.
- Proofread a variety of documents
- Occasionally fill in at related company reception desk, a virtual office with a multi-line phone system.
The position is based in Victoria, BC with an office Downtown working Monday-Friday 9 am - 1 pm. Remote opportunities are not available. Semi-formal business attire is required.
**Desired Experience**
- multi-company filing system
- Relevant experience in bookkeeping
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Basic understanding of accounting
- Preparation and continual review of budgets
- Documentation management
**Qualifications**
- High School Diploma
- 2+ years of general work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 1-year experience in basic bookkeeping
- Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language; French or Spanish is an asset
- Canadian Passport, or Permanent Residency
- Preference towards non-smokers (same reason as above)
- Two professional references from direct supervisors
**Compensation**
- Salary - based on experience
- Sick Days - 5 paid sick days
- Vacation - 10 days
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week
**Salary**: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Victoria, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Secondary School (preferred)
