In 1946 the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) was the first conservation authority formed in Ontario and, since then, has continued to be a respected leader in watershed management.

Dam Conservation Area and along the South Huron Trail system.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- the delivery of the ABCA’s municipal plan input program and for the delivery of the Regulation of

Development, Interference with Wetlands and Alterations to Shorelines and Watercourses (Ontario
Regulation 147/06) program
- providing professional advice, legislative and regulatory guidance, and for recommending appropriate action to ABCA staff, clients, including municipal, provincial, and federal partners, and/or private industry representatives and permit applicants
- performing necessary site inspections, referring to ABCA and provincial policies, official plans, zoning by
- laws, aerial photographs, regulation and floodplain mapping and any other related documents.

**Qualifications**:

- have a degree from an accredited University in planning, or natural resource management field or engineering plus five years related experience.
- have a knowledge of and experience in municipal planning processes.
- have a general understanding of the role of a conservation authority in the broader municipal and provincial planning context, including Provincial Planning Policy Statement (PPS), and Conservation Authorities Act and regulations.
- have a demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, and, where necessary, seek the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
- be an effective communicator able to facilitate discussions between parties with different perspectives of competing interests and resolve conflicts, excellent written communication skills.
- be a team player with extraordinary organization, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
- have an ability to work outdoors and in adverse environmental conditions.

**Assets**
- an ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
- an ability to comprehend documentation that is technical or scientific in nature.
- previous experience with and knowledge about conservation authorities.
- working knowledge of environmental legislation, permit approval processes, and some technical guidelines would be considered an asset (e.g., coastal and water-related engineering).
- a general understanding of various technical disciplines (e.g., ecology, water resource engineering, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, etc.).
- a working knowledge of GIS.
- an ability to operate a variety of related equipment such as Global Positioning Systems (G.P.S.), surveying equipment, cameras.

**Remuneration**:$40.33 to $50.41 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Less experienced applicants willing to grow in this position may be considered and will be compensated accordingly.

**Hours**:35 hours per week with some evenings and weekends.

**Salary**: $40.33-$50.41 per hour
