Maintenance Rep

**Position Summary**:
The primary function of the Maintenance person is to ensure that routine Maintenance duties, including those outlined below, are performed in a safe, timely and competent manner. Maintenance staff will ensure a positive overall impression of the property as well as provide assistance as needed to staff and patients.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Complete “Room Checklist” with each patient being discharged.
- Periodic making of beds & room cleaning.
- Routine inspection of vaulted ceilings and outside eaves & walkways, removing cobwebs as needed.
- Routine inspection of interior and exterior lighting, replacing bulbs as necessary.
- Daily mopping of dining hall, periodic waxing and buffing.
- Mopping gym as needed.
- Mopping of hallways as needed.
- Painting as needed.
- Replace washroom towels and tissue as needed.
- Daily stocking of patient laundry rooms.
- Keep paved parking lot and walkways swept (and salted when necessary).
- Exterior window washing.
- Assembling and moving of furniture as required.
- Assist Housekeeping as required.
- Report to Supervisor prior to performing duties outside the daily roster.
- All other duties as assigned

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- General working knowledge of small appliance repair, carpentry, and basic plumbing an asset.
- High degree of initiative and willingness to assist in any area required.
- Must be able to work with mínimal supervision, prioritize tasks and work effectively with a variety of demands.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality as per Edgewood’s Oath of Confidentiality Policy.
- Ability to deal effectively and compassionately with people in many capacities.
- Must be able to understand and follow directions.
- Strong work ethic and problem solving skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to kneel, bend and crawl
- Able to tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals while following and utilizing required PPE and WHMS protocol

- Must be of sound health and able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor
- Six-month probation period
- Annual performance review
- Annual vacation and statutory holidays as per personnel policy
- Sick leave as per personnel policy schedule
- Normal work hours - 40 hours per week
- Overtime may be required
- Abide by all Edgewood policies and procedures
- WHMIS training
- First Aid and CPR Level C
- Completion of all mandatory training as required
- Must have proof of Covid-19 Vaccine
