**JOB SUMMARY**

Reporting to the VP of Culinary Operations, acts as an integral member of the Kids & Company team to assist in the overall management of day to day operations of all food preparation and cooking at the kitchen, following Kids & Company best practices to achieve our mission statement**: to provide the highest quality primary and back up childcare services conveniently located near our children’s parents place of work.**

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
- Responsible for all the cooking, baking, food preparation, packing and loading for delivery to catered daycare centers.
- Follows Kids & Company best practices to ensure safe food storage and disposal; includes recording daily temperature logs, labeling and dating inventory, following the FIFO (First in First Out) rule.
- Ordering all food supplies and kitchen equipment from head office weekly.
- Chef is responsible for keeping current allergy lists, and preparing substitutions for all allergen children, vegetarians, and any other special dietary needs.
- Portioning and distributing meals and snacks for each classroom.
- Collecting, washing, and sanitizing dishware throughout the day.
- Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters, cupboards, and drawers.
- Ensure effective cost control by minimizing waste, proper food allocation, controlling food inventories, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation.
- Required to prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events from time to time.
- Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the daycare centers.
- Administrative duties, daily correspondence with head office kitchen team and various childcare centers.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- 2 - 3 years of Sous Chef or Executive Chef work-related experience.
- High School diploma/GED equivalency required.
- Valid driver license and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Current Food Handler Certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office in Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience in a daycare or long-term care environment would be an asset.
- Experience working in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently.
- Excellent organization skills, detail oriented and a strong team player.
- Basic/intermediate mathematical skills including the ability to control food costs.
- Requires early morning start time.
