Reporting to the Team Leader Open Space Construction Services, The Construction Services Crew Leader is responsible for ensuring the ongoing safe operations of Construction Projects.

- Provide field level supervision and hands on leadership for crews performing a wide variety of landscape construction work and snow and ice removal tasks
- Set daily priorities according to the approved work, budget, and schedule project requirements and weather
- Promote safety in all aspects of the work, and create a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and the public
- Ensure all environmental policies, procedures and standards are adhered to, followed, and controlled
- Project staffing, material and equipment required for the execution of the Construction project and address issues that may arise
- Utilize your knowledge and skills of current, generally accepted construction methods, and industry best standards & practices related to open space construction in order to execute assigned work
- Communicate with other leaders to discuss activities, goals, plans, projects and budget as required to coordinate the work of the project
- Be responsible for the mentoring, training and orientation of returning staff and new staff members
- Assist with, and provide leadership on, equipment operation and the safe handling of small and large operational equipment (including skid steers, tool cats, trucks and trailers and various small tools)
- As a Maintenance Repairman I perform skilled heavy manual landscape construction duties and other repair yard duties as required, with knowledge of safety precautions for using and maintaining various small and large hand and power tools
- Perform snow and ice operations work in the winter
- Performing other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma related to the landscaping industry
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) is required
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in all aspects of commercial construction, including supervisory capacity experience
- Valid City driving permit and training for Skid Steer with various attachments, Toolcat, Trailer, NSCS, Fuel Sense, Valid First Aid, truck and plow experience
- Training in Ground Disturbing, Prime Contractor qualification, Leadership and Safety leadership course understanding of First Call process
- Experience with all aspects of landscaping project construction and project management, including management of projects up to $1 million dollars in scope
- Demonstrated ability to deliver on project work in a team environment
- Capacity to work in a fully integrated, independent manner across the organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated supervisory ability in building and maintaining productive teams by providing coaching, training and development, health and safety programs, attendance management and performance evaluation
