The Risk & Capital Solutions (R&CS) is a structuring desk that sits within BMO CM’s Global Markets division. It provides advisory and execution services to help the Bank identify, structure, and place solutions to optimize capital, risk, and balance sheet constraints. The desk also deploys its risk and capital expertise in support of financial institution clients. Through the different programs it has developed, R&CS provides investors with novel investment opportunities in bank-originated private credits across multiple assets classes. The desk’s structuring expertise has been recognized by various leading industry publications.

Mandate

As part of the Global Trade Support (GTS) group under T&O, we are looking to fill an Associate vacancy within the Securitization Trade Desk Support (TDS) team to mainly support the R&CS desk. In this role you will leverage advanced product knowledge and critical thinking skills to effectively support the resolution of issues, manage trade support risk topics, participate in cross functional initiatives, play a key role in supporting the introduction of new products, technology and/or processes, and act as an escalation point for business issues and challenges related to GTS activities.

You will be accountable for, but not limited to, the
- execution of assigned activities for various products and processes in accordance with firm and industry standards and regulations
- development of excellent working relationships with various Trading Products desks, Product Operations personnel and other stakeholder groups
- support of Business Partner initiatives, participating in the due diligence and implementation activities and actively participating in stakeholder forums (Project Delivery/ Technology/ Risk)

Key Accountabilities

Product & Process
- Accountable for the execution of assigned day-to-day GTS activities in a timely, accurate and efficient basis
- Support the resolution of business issues, ensuring potential problem areas or trends are escalated to management as required
- Play a key role in the support of Business Partner initiatives, effectively performing analysis and supporting implementation activities
- Participate in various stakeholder forums (Project Delivery/ Technology/ Regulatory/ Risk) in support of GTS activities
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders in support of GTS activities
- Responsible for making sure timely execution and delivery of Notices, Portfolio Registries and Reports, coupon payments, Non-Payment Insurance premium payments, monthly P&L, monthly pricing, etc.
- Ensure timely invoice payments and reconcile cash movements to the bank accounts
- Respond to client, audit and other ad hoc requests
- Aid with critical month end, quarter-end and year-end reporting
- Coordinate with the R&CS team and review trade booking in source systems (LEAP, Trader EH)
- Other tasks as assigned
- Ability to work non-standard hours depending on the needs of the business at different times

B. Risk & Control
- Identify potential risk situations within the scope of GTS activities, make recommendations and/ or escalate to management as required
- Ensure adherence to directives, internal processes and internal approvals to mitigate risk to the Bank
- Understand regulatory and compliance requirements as prescribed for the business unit, and provide recommendations and implement actions to ensure adherence as required
- Ensure adherence to all aspects of First Principles, Our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Corporate Policy, as well as all applicable legislation, regulatory rules and requirements, and Bank standards, policies and procedures (P&P’s) for such things as potential conflicts of interest, safeguarding of customer information, trading in securities, anti-money laundering, privacy and disclosure of outside business activities
- Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained for both customer and Bank information to protect the customer and the Bank and to ensure compliance with Bank P&P’s
- Manage risk and minimize losses through monitoring and controlling various reports and taking appropriate action, ensuring compliance requirements, audits and verifications are completed in accordance with Bank P&P’s
- Keep current the monthly Task Calendars to ensure all tasks are complete as there are many moving parts in the monthly cycles
