Part-time Bookeeper for Mortgage Brokerage

**Overview**
We are looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper with a background in real estate, mortgage brokerage, or commission-based accounting. You will play a vital role in ensuring our financial records are up-to-date, accurate, and compliant. The role requires occasional visits to our Mississauga office for onboarding and training.

**Responsibilities**
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Square, Excel, etc.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing and payment tracking.
- Conduct regular account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial reports to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in all bookkeeping activities.
- Collaborate with corporate accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage monthly agent charges, track credit card payments, and follow up on any missed payments.
- Handle payroll for employees and commissioned mortgage agents, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Ensure proper handling of trust accounts and commission-based accounting in accordance with industry standards.
- Research and implement latest technology and versed with current accounting technology tools to enhance efficiency and streamline processes (an asset).

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Square, Excel, etc.
- Experience handling commission-based payments and trust accounts is required.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, account analysis, bank reconciliation, and general accounting principles.
- Familiarity with DEXT or similar receipt and expense management software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.
