Working in the Children’s Mental Health program, and reporting to the Program Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, monitoring and counselling of clients currently residing in the Children’s Residential Treatment Home. The Program provides intensive community based
- treatment options to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing, require a community-rich setting and who display complex behavioural, mental health and developmental needs.

**PRIMARY DUTIES**:

- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of assessments, goals, and treatment plans for individuals in care establishing norms and structure that provide for a safe and growth-focused environment
- Ensure supportive, safe, and predictable environment through the establishment of routines, limits and daily living skills
- Participate in conjunction with the Program Supervisor and Clinical Team in the development and implementation of therapeutic programming through trend and data analysis and pre-developed curricula that supports individual and group treatment goals
- Responds to crisis situations utilizing crisis intervention ,SMG techniques and individualized Behaviour Support Plan
- Lead and/or participate in treatment planning, service reviews, plan of care, program planning and evaluation meetings
- Coordinate multi-sector services and supports for individuals including community appointments, community activities, school/employment and/or special program events such as trips
- Engage in service planning with multi-disciplinary teams and professionals as it aligns with treatment goals
- Participate in activities of day to day residential care including personal hygiene routines, daily activity schedule, operational duties and administrative duties
- Engage in implementation of effective behaviour management strategies and provide supportive/motivational counselling as needed to individuals residing in home
- Provide effective management of caseload requirements and agency reporting expectations through data collection, trend analysis, client profile maintenance and documentation
- Physical activities including, but not limited to, lifting, bending and prolonged standing
- Varying schedule including days, evenings and weekends

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Diploma in Child and Youth, Social Service Worker or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience plus minimum two years working in a clinical setting with individuals with mental health needs, challenging behaviours and/or dual diagnosis
- Member or eligible to become a member of recognized college in the field
- Knowledge and experience working within the Deaf community and proficiency in ASL or demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to Deaf Cultural environment
- Knowledge and experience in supporting individuals with Trauma informed care and Person Directed approach
- Demonstrated creative problem solving abilities, flexibility and adaptation to change
- Strong written skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with youth, families, staff and colleagues and cross sector service partners
- Proven success in working alongside, or as part of a clinical treatment team
- Possess sound judgement, creativity, initiative, integrity and ability to set consistent and appropriate limits
- Demonstrated experience in computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharevision)
- Committed to helping youth within an Interdisciplinary team using individual and group processes
- Mature and professional judgement in conflictual and high intensity situations
- Current quality assurance measures, safe management, medication administration, and WHMIS certification
- Valid Ontario Full G Driver’s License and clean driving record
- French language/LSQ an asset
