The
**GIS Asset Management Coordinator** contributes towards the organization of information, record keeping, and planning for VFPA infrastructure assets. This position assists in interpreting information, identifying asset management needs and ensuring system enhancements are developed to meet these requirements. This position supports data management related to asset information in the corporate asset database, analytical duties related to asset management including life-cycle cost analysis for development of long-term asset management plans for infrastructure assets.

The GIS Asset Management Coordinator will:

- Provide support for the ongoing development, maintenance and continuous improvement of a corporate infrastructure asset management information base including related maintenance standards, drawings, and reports. Liaise with various VFPA departments to compile and interpret this information and make recommendations to management for replacement or upgrading.
- Perform life cycle cost analysis utilizing computerized asset management systems to compare costs and benefits of competing alternatives, and cross asset optimization.
- Assist in coordinating condition inspections and investigations. Report on and ensure the assessed condition of assets is recorded in the corporate asset management database or other acceptable medium. Report identified deficiencies to management and make recommendations to resolve identified issues.
- Participate in discussions between VFPA and tenants/users regarding inspection, repair and maintenance of VFPA assets.
- Coordinate the collection and data entry of “as-constructed” asset information to the corporate asset management database from plans, technical reports and field inspections.
- Work with the spatial data team to identify, recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiencies to the Asset Management Program.
- Prepare, collect and input data for various Port systems, including GIS, Real Estate and Engineering Department Document Index (EDDI).
- Prepare a variety of plans from a wide variety of source material, revising Port mapping as required.
- Perform occasional fieldwork to acquire additional infrastructure data or to confirm accuracy of asset data.
- Assist with the organization and maintenance of drawings and records related to Port infrastructure and assets as required.
- Carry out research related to historical records.
- Participate in health and safety initiatives and comply with established policy, procedures and guidelines to protect yourself and your work colleagues. Report concerns, hazards, risks and incidents to management for follow-up.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.

**Success Profile**
Must have a two-year full-time technical diploma in engineering (preferably civil engineering), GIS/Geomatics or another acceptable diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institution, and a minimum of 2 years of GIS experience using Esri software. Experience working in infrastructure asset management and maintenance, and database management would be an asset. Must have excellent computer skills including databases, MS Word and Excel.
