**Job Summary**
- The Fountain School of Performing Arts is the only university performing arts school east of Montreal and brings a range of new opportunities to students of Music, Theatre, and Cinema and Media Studies. Reporting to the Administrative Officer, Finance and Personnel, the Technical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the schedule of all events in the Joseph Strug Concert Hall, Sir James Dunn Theatre and David Mack Murray Studio (apart from DalTheatre and DalOpera performances). The Technical Coordinator will oversee all technical preparations for each event by determining the equipment and support personnel needs.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Coordinate all technical and administrative event preparations by determining the costs, equipment and support personnel needs, while managing the rental schedules in coordination with academic classes and events.
- Supervise the loading, unloading and setup of scenery, props, musical instruments, and all related articles required for various presentations booked into the venues, as well as general cabling, focusing of lights and related rigging and staging for all shows.
- Oversee and/or assist with the setup and tear down of all show equipment.
- Interpret information from faculty, staff, clients, artists, artist’s management, and technicians for orderly set up and running of all events in applicable spaces.
- Prepare and review contracts/riders to determine all production requirements are appropriate.
- Responsible to interview, hire, train and supervise part-time technical crew in the safe execution of their duties pertaining to events, which may include the unloading of scenery, props, etc., running of cables, focusing lights, setting up rigging and staging, and running sound or light boards.

**Note**
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

**Required Qualifications**
- High school diploma plus considerable years of practical theatre experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- A comprehensive background in technical production including technical direction, sound, stage management and lighting design, as well as an understanding of all aspects of venue operations.
- Knowledge of multiple controlled chain motors.
- Knowledge of audio/video systems and digital projection.
- Knowledge of current Theatre safety practices.
- Strong communication, supervisory and administrative skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- Patience, creativity, flexibility, problem-solving.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office; VectorWorks, Qlab, Adobe Creative Suite)

**Assets**
- Undergraduate degree in Technical Theatre Production.
