**About the Organization**

**Job Summary**
- Reporting to the Communications Officer, the Communications Assistant will be a key liaison for the CIRN with the Communications Offer, and institutional hosts at Dalhousie University and IWK Health Centre. The Communications Assistant will be responsible for facilitating internal and external communications, including, but not limited to developing communications plans and materials, writing reports, research communications (publicity and media), and internal policy development.

**Key Responsibilities**
- In collaboration with the CIRN Program Executive, develop and create CIRN annual reports for both government and public.
- Assist with the development of a new CIRN website; develop and oversee the maintenance of web content; maintain a database of i) CIRN researchers including profiles and research interests ii) CIRN’s network sites, locations, and websites iii) CIRN research publications, seminars, and appearances to ensure website information is current.
- Develop and maintain CIRN’s social media including strategy, key messages, and project promotion; monitor stakeholder social media (Funding bodies, institutions, researchers) to promote CIRN investigator’s research.
- With the Communications Officer, CCfV create and/or review press releases for funding announcements, research publications, or calls for proposals; act as media contact to coordinate responses to media from CIRN investigators from across all networks.
- Assist with the development and implementation of member engagement plans for both CIRN and CCfV.

**Note**
The successful applicant will primarily work remotely, with occasional presence in-person on-campus to meet client needs and operation requirements.

**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications or other related education with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong understanding of social media and website platforms, including how to tailor platforms for specific audiences.
- Experience writing and editing various communications material such as reports, governance documents, policies and SOPs, etc.

**Assets**
- Proficiency in French language.
