GC Custom Metal Fabrication is currently recruiting for an experienced Journeyman/ Journeywoman Machinist with a minimum of 5 years work experience who has a passion for working with specialized machining equipment and producing/ filling work orders for specialty metal parts on our behalf.

This passion results in amazing finished products for our customers from many different diverse work sectors in the economy.

We will be relying on the machinist to provide their expertise to the sales and estimating team pertaining to labor times, material and machinability questions and concerns.

In return for your hard work, **starting wage will be $ 40.0 per hour** plus overtime and a solid benefit package.

**Prior expertise with GIBBS CAM Software is considered a valuable asset to have for this position however expertise with other forms of CAM Software will also be considered**.

**GC Custom Metal Fabrication** is a family owned & operated sheet metal Fabrication Company based in South East Edmonton, AB. Starting in 1982, the goal of matching excellent customer service with high quality products has remained the focus. Since then our advanced capabilities have grown to include a variety of CNC programmable machines including laser-cutting, brake forming,[GC2]cnc mills, lathes, waterjet cutting and more, in a 30,000 square foot production facility. **THE JOB**:
This position will be responsible for programing, set up, operation and maintenance of various CNC mills, CNC and manual lathes. Additionally the machinist will be responsible from start to finish for the quality of the finished product and providing assistance to the sales and estimating team relating to labor times, material and machinability questions.

**Requirements for the role**:

- Journeyman/ Journeywoman certification in Machining from an Industry recognized technical training institute.
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years machinist prior work experience in a related role within a shop environment.
- Demonstrated work experience in 3D modeling and programming for CNC equipment, Solid works and **GIBBS CAM is a valuable asset for the position**.
- Experience with the set up and operation of manual machining equipment
- Experience with CNC mills, HAAS and Okuma an asset
- Experience operating a forklift and overhead crane

**Responsibilities**
- Operating and programming specialty CNC machinist equipment that involves reading and interpreting work orders.
- Assisting the sales and estimating team with labor times, material and machinability questions and concerns
- Operating various hand tools and equipment such as deburring equipment, band saw, measuring equipment and the ability to operate a forklift when required.
- Reviewing work orders to determine which tasks are done and which ones still need to be completed
- Reviewing drawings and work order to determine important information critical to the task they are performing, material, quantity, specific instructions, etc.
- Transporting raw materials and finished metal products
- Manually moving parts around shop either by hand or cart
- Using a fork lift or pallet jack to move large parts or material
- Loading and unloading vehicles using hand truck or dolly
- Cleaning work areas and equipment
- Sorting raw materials and parts, scrap metal and other materials
- Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
- Ensuring all requirements of the work order and all steps have been completed
- Counting finished products to determine if product orders are complete

- Works quickly and efficiently by ensuring all tasks are completed within the allotted time frame and by offering ideas for improvements to processes to appropriate supervision
- Pays attention to detail by identifying details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Possesses the ability to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
