**Starting Salary**:$73,420 - $83,680 per year based on experience. Salary Range Max $95,460 [2023 Rates]

**The Role**

**Duties include, but are not limited to**:

- Manage the development and implementation of communication plans, campaigns, content, timelines, quality measures and supporting processes to meet the Communications branch priorities and provide excellence to key stakeholders
- Collaborates with the internal and external staff, leadership and other stakeholders to create and implement communication plans, campaigns and content, leveraging a range of communication platforms and tools, such as web, social media, print, newsletters, and virtual or in-person events. Evaluate the success of these campaigns.
- In collaboration with other branch leadership, identify communications opportunities and needs for the Communications branch.
- Collaborate with direct reports to identify ways to improve communications effectiveness and implement viable ideas.
- Write and edit a wide range of communications materials, including press releases, speeches, talking points, op-eds, and other materials as needed.
- Deal with complex, confidential, and sensitive issues in a timely manner, with tact, discretion, maturity and judgement.
- Other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing communications plans in a non-profit, government or Indigenous government setting.
- Strong desire to act in the service of Métis citizens (advance and uphold rights and culture).
- Significant knowledge of Métis and/or Indigenous policy issues and principles or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire knowledge.
- Comfort with ambiguity in both the strategic and operational aspects of the role.
- Experience using data and analytics to track the effectiveness of communications efforts and make data-driven decisions to improve future strategies.
- Advanced communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly detail-oriented and elevated levels of problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of self-awareness.
- Resolve complex conflicts that arise among direct reports and/or other employees.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible in a demanding and dynamic environment.
- Preference given to citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario

**Qualifications**
- Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
- 5+ years experience in a similar/comparable communications or marketing role.
- A post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience managing a team of communications professionals.
- Knowledge of Métis-specific and broader indigenous key challenges is a major asset
