**Job Summary**:
The Contracting (Controls/Turnkey) Project Specialist position supports customer needs through a blend of Project Management, Engineering and Technician activities. Responsible for engineered control drawings, end to end testing, downloading/writing programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects. Will manage projects, from beginning to end, with direct responsibility for project execution to accomplish specific objectives in a given time frame, with available resources and within budget. Excellent opportunity for someone who likes variety of work and looking to get exposure to the different functions/roles within the HVAC controls business.
**Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate and manage the implementation of Controls and Turn Key projects from a project management and technical perspective.
- Plan and analyzes assigned projects, establishes schedules and project plan and sets procedures to accomplish customer and Trane objectives.
- Establishes professional relationship and communicates with field support staff and customers and their representatives. Interfaces constantly to maintain accurate status reports and project reviews.
- Must be able to clearly articulate the goals of the client & translate that into the ideas behind our work.
- Responsible for discussing all project matters including but not limited to scope of project; budgets; performance; and close-out.
- Establish and maintain operations budgets and forecasts for assigned projects by reviewing or revising the original estimate based on validated project scope.
- Responsible for project cash-flow management: progress billing, collections support and monitoring, and resource management.
- Responsible for change order management by recommending solutions, facilitating quotes and closing orders.
- Examine and review contracts and estimates by performing risk analysis and developing risk plans.
- Responsible for end-to-end testing, downloading programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.
- Prepare and coordinate on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
- Prepare and review/qualify sub-contractor request for quotation’s (RFQ) including scope statements; plans and milestone dates; specs; bonding requirements; and billing schedule of values.
- Ensures Trane quality standards are maintained for assigned projects.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff.
- Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files.
- Provides training and follow-up training at customer site.
- Obtains acceptance and timely sign-off of the project by the customer.
- Responsible for the successful transition of warranty to the service process.
- Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.
- Travel with occasional overnight stays, as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, with a minimum of 3 years of experience or seven years of experience in the construction Industry or related field, or an equivalent combination of education including HVAC or Technical Diploma and experience.
- At least 3-5 years of HVAC controls experience in either a project management, engineering, or technician capacity.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
- DUI in the previous 5 years.
- Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
- Organization and attention to detail is essential.
- Ability to work well in a cross-capability team.
- Individual must be self-motivated and be able to work on their own w/ limited supervision.
- Strong client management skills are a must.
- Manage and partner with other Trane business steams including turnkey and service.
- Understanding of resource management and planning including use of resource management software
- Strong Microsoft Office and other relevant project management tools experience.
