London, Canada PHSS - Medical & Complex Care in Community Full time

**About the Organization**

Based in London, Ontario, PHSS is a non-profit organization that provides unique and flexible supports and services to people with complex medical, physical, and/or developmental needs by supporting the life they choose as part of the community in the form of 24-hour residential supports, day and overnight respite, specialized complex medical care and intensive behavioural supports, recreational programs, and support for individuals living at home with their families.

**The Role**:

**Reports into**:

- Executive Lead, Services

**Location-** London, Ontario (The role is not remote.)

**Responsibilities**:

- Accountable for oversight of the day-to-day operations related to hiring, onboarding, staffing issues, employee relations, HRIS, pay, time and attendance, policy development and interpretation, compensation & benefits, health and safety at PHSS.
- Coach and provide feedback to leaders and their teams as required to enhance overall performance
- Ensure leaders at all levels within PHSS are well supported in the implementation of positive employee relations practices by providing consultation, coaching and guidance to supervisors, managers and staff on issues such as staffing, accommodation, performance management, attendance and conflict management.
- Lead the recruitment and selection process for the organization by developing, implementing and maintaining sound and equitable hiring strategies to move PHSS in the direction of being an employer of choice.
- Stay current with best practices in the HR field, ensuring that internal policies and procedures meet best practice, with employment related legislation being applied appropriately.
- In collaboration with the Executive Lead
- Services, provide input into the organization’s strategic planning & decision-making process and implement proactive and progressive Human Resources initiatives to support the strategic objectives of the organization.
- Support and contribute to agency-wide management initiatives and the ongoing development and enhancement of management practices.
- Encourage and enhance a supportive customer - oriented approach with accurate, timely and courteous service to employees.
- Provide guidance and assistance to employees with respect to the interpretation of policies and procedures and applicable standards, legislation, regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct human resource investigations and ensure administrative fairness is upheld
- Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
- Represent management and participate actively on various internal and external committees

**Knowledge, Education and Experience Required**
- A University degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development or a related field.
- A post graduate diploma or degree in Human Resources Management.
- CHRL designation preferred
- At least five years of Human Resources generalist experience including responsibility for a broad range of Human Resource functions including recruitment, training and development, salary, pension, and benefits administration, performance management, and employee relations.
- Training in Workplace Health & Safety and Conflict Mediation is an asset.
- Demonstrated cultural competence with a passion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion best practices and initiatives in workplaces.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines including Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, and Human Rights Code.
- Excellent, positive and highly effective interpersonal, consultation, advisory, leadership and communications skills (both written and oral) within all levels of an organization.
- Diplomacy and tact with excellent judgement and problem-solving skills
- A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required;
