As a SNIC Parks Labourer, you will be working under the direction of a Foreman. You will perform a variety of duties individually, or as a member of a crew. Primary duties include:

-Snow and Ice Clearing (SNIC) - including operating equipment (Toolcat, skidsteer, kubota, and related equipment attachments including brooms and blades), hand work (snow blowers, walk behind or shovels), or sanding and salting (pickup bed sander, manual spreader).
General park maintenance required in the winter months.
General rink maintenance, preparing rinks for flooding, ice resurfacing.
Using an iPad to report completed SNIC work and responding to additional work requests.
Spring cleanup, including litter pickup and sweeping.
The position will require the operation of equipment and the use of hand tools in performing the above duties.
Duties may vary from location to location.


**Qualifications***A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
Ability to perform physically demanding manual labour in a winter environment.
At least one season experience with SNIC would be considered an asset.
Experience with the following equipment will be considered assets: operating a walk behind Bobcat, John Deer Tractor, Tool Cat, Kubota, Skid steer, Zamboni, a walk behind Gravely or snow blower, and experience working with an iPad. Preference will be given to applicants with equipment operator tickets, trailer ticket, load securement, and TDG listed on their City of Calgary operators permit.
Success in this position requires the ability to work within a team and assist others, be aware of safety regulations and requirements, work safely, undertake all aspects of the job thoroughly and willingly, and respond and interact positively with customers.
- **Working Conditions**:In addition to the operation of snow and ice clearing equipment these positions require physically demanding work - heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), manual snow removal, prolonged bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. Work is performed in all types of working and weather conditions.
- **Pre-employment Requirements**Must obtain City of Calgary Operator's Permit.
