Environmental Specialist

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction
over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking

**Environmental Specialist**
**(Full Time - Temporary position)
**Reporting to the Assistant Director Environment and Lands the Environmental Specialist will
be working closely with the Environmental Team and in partnership with other departments
of KRG. More specifically, the Environmental Specialist will:
Provide assistance and expertise in general environment issues to the KRG, and /
or the Northern Villages (NV);

Proceed to site remediation in remote area in collaboration with the NVs;

Provide technical assistance to the NVs in the implementation of climate change
Adaptation and monitoring projects;

Undertake environmental inspections in the Kativik region;

Collaborate with different Ministries on environmental matters;

Chapter 1 of the Environmental Quality Act;

Participate in climate change research and adaptation projects in collaboration with
universities and other organizations;

Perform any other duties as required.

**Required qualifications: **

University degree in environmental studies or in a related field

Minimum 2 years experience in a related field;

Excellent organizational skills;

Strong oral and written communication skills;

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with limited supervision;

Strong team work and relationship management competencies;

Good understanding of Aboriginal issues and the North in general is considered an
asset;

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in at least two of the following languages:
Inuktitut, French, English;

Ability to travel frequently throughout Nunavik.

**Salary**:Min; $56 763.98/year, Max: $97 171.62/year (Class 9)
