Environmental Technician

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction
over the Kativik Region.The KRG is currently seeking to recruit an energetic and motivated

**Environmental Technician**
**(Permanent, Full-time position)
**Reporting to the Assistant Director Environment and Lands, the Environmental Technician
will be working closely with the Environmental Specialist and in partnership with the
Department of Municipal Public Works. More specifically, the Environmental Technician will**:
Inspect regularly or when needed the environmental conditions existing in the Nunavik
communities;

Provide assistance for implementation of information programs on environmental issues
intended for the population;

Cooperate with the _Ministry of Environment_ in matters related to environmental
emergencies;

Provide technical assistance to the Northern Villages for the management of their
northern landfill and other site used for residual management as well as for the
implementation of residual material and hazardous waste management programs;

Provide technical assistance to the Northern Villages for the management of hazardous
spills in the environment and contaminated soil management;

Provide technical assistance to the Northern Villages for the packaging, storage and
shipping of their hazardous material;

Perform any other duties as required.

**Required qualifications: **

Possess a Secondary V diploma; exceptional work experience will also be
considered

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field;

Strong communication skills and be able to work independently as well as with others;

Leadership qualities and good ability to work with a group of people;

Working knowledge of basic computer software;

Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages:
Inuktitut, English and French;

Willing to travel within Nunavik.

**Salary**:Min; $40,959 /year, Max: $67,844 /year (Class 6)***
