Waypoints is a registered, non-profit charity that has been operating in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo since 1982. Waypoints offers facilities, programs and services for people that have experienced, or are experiencing domestic violence or sexual violence. Waypoint also provides the community with public awareness events, initiatives and educational programs to increase the prevention of violence and abuse in the Wood Buffalo Region. Waypoints operates Unity House, an Emergency Women and Children's Shelter, the Opportunities for Change Centre, The Sexual Assault Healing Centre, and The Compass, home of our Second Stage Shelter for women and children in need of transitional housing, as well as affordable housing.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, this position promotes health and healing by providing specialized counselling services to individuals in the region who have been impacted by sexual violence.

**Terms of Employment**:

- Incumbent will be required to work 37.5 hours per week with the ability to flex hours of work to accommodate client and agency needs.
- Hourly wage $49.85.
- Some travel throughout the Wood Buffalo region will be required, including to the remote community of Fort Chipewyan.
- Must have Masters Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or other related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum 2 years direct experience in trauma counselling and group facilitation. Training in Trauma-specific treatment modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy are considered assets.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Direct Client Services_
- Provide individual and group counselling to children, youth and adults of all genders that have been affected by sexual assault, sexual abuse and / or domestic violence in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
- Provide evidence
- based counselling services to individuals using a variety of treatment modalities.
- Develop, implement and co-facilitate treatment groups and/or psychoeducational programming.
- Work in collaboration with other service providers to ensure full wrap-around support for clients.
- Properly document client interactions in the form of assessment and case notes.
- Provide crisis supports and interventions as needed.
- Engage in regular peer supervision and clinical supervision practices
- Miscellaneous:_
- Actively contribute to the development of a strong staff team through on-going support, consultation and debriefing
- As requested, present on counselling-related topics to community partners
- Collect, analyze and report specific counselling data
- Attend and participate in regular staff meetings
- Represent Waypoints at community awareness events or workshops
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Director of Program Development or Executive Director
- Ability to build rapport with people.
- A trauma-informed perspective.
- An understanding of trauma, intergenerational trauma, and the neurobiology of trauma.
- Experience working with a multitude of cultural backgrounds, including Indigenous communities.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients.
- Experience in the provision of gender-based violence services combined with an understanding of intersectionality and anti-oppressive practice.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

**Other Requirements**:

- Satisfactory RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Satisfactory Children’s Services Intervention Record Check.
- Must pass Security Clearance as required by RCMP.
- Proof of educational credentials and professional registration.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
