We are currently seeking an **Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor** to join our EHS Team at our Goderich Salt Mine site in Goderich, Ontario. This is not a fly in / fly out position.

The Goderich Mine is located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron on the shores of Goderich, Ontario. It is the largest underground salt mine in the world and has been operating since 1959. This location employs over 500 people and annually produces 6.5 million tons of highway de-icing salt and chemical salt. It is transports product to customers around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway via vessel, rail and roads. The salt is also used to make plastics, detergents, disinfectants, and other important products.

Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1 hour from London & Stratford, Ontario and a 1 ½ hour drive from Kitchener-Waterloo.

The **EH&S Supervisor** promotes a safe and productive workplace by increasing safety awareness, monitoring and auditing safety systems, reporting safety statistics, and providing safety training. The EH&S Supervisor collaborates with all site personnel, contractors, regulators, and corporate staff and provides full spectrum support in the EH&S effort.

**How will you contribute to the team?**
- Lead the Mine’s environment, health & safety (EHS&S) programs
- Continuously improve the Mine's EHS&S management systems
- Assist site management in achieving & sustaining accident/injury prevention culture consistent with Company's safety objectives
- Conduct safety training: new employee orientation, refresher training for existing employees, and contractor safety training
- Coordinate specialized training exercises such as fire response, First-Aid, CPR & AED use
- Maintain EHS&S recordkeeping in compliance with regulatory & Company requirements
- Facilitate the needs of the Occupational Health & Safety Committee and associated activities
- Learn and effectively communicate knowledge of specific EHS&S topics: environmental reclamation planning, air quality & emissions, water quality & discharges, waste management, fall protection, mobile equipment safety, confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out, machine guarding, noise control, WHMIS
- Track, compile and report EHS&S open issues related statistics, legislative and corporate requirements.
- Establish and execute long-term EHS&S programs consistent with strategic direction provided by VP-EHS&S
- Facilitate creating and maintaining job specific Physical Demand Analysis (PHA) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) documents.
- Facilitate creating and monitoring Safe Return to Work programs.
- Review and Maintain Functional Ability Forms (FAF) for completeness and accuracy when submitted.

Qualifications

**You bring to the role**:

- Recognized safety certification is preferred but high school graduation and relevant experience will be considered.
- Must have proficient computer skills using MS Office suite.
- **Oral Communication** - The ability to effectively communicate with all site personnel, contractors, regulators and general staff in small and large group settings. This includes ability to reinforce safety concepts and safety rules in a manner that creates learning.
- **Written Communication** - The ability to write reports, training materials, standard procedures and policies.
- **Planning/Organizing** - The ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- **Reasoning** - The ability to collect and accurately assemble data in a logical manner. The ability to read, analyze and interpret job-related information.
- **Dependability** - Must have timely and accurate reporting, tracking and follow-up of assignments
- **Mathematical** - The ability to perform basic math functions and work well with fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
