**Peer Support Workers Consumption and Treatment Service (CTS)**
(Part time Positions Available 0.6 FTE)

Hamilton Urban Core is a thriving inner city health centre and a leader in the provision of high-quality primary health services and health promotion programs.

Peer Support Workers will provide support and resources to individuals accessing the
CTS and will work with other members of the CTS team to safely serve clients using harm reduction approaches. Peer Support Workers work with individuals who use drugs to strengthen their capacity to improve their own health and well-being, and to help people connect to the services and resources they need when they need them. Peer
Support Workers are members of the person-centered, inter-professional, team of health providers at Hamilton Urban Core who will:
1. Provide harm reduction supplies and information
2. Provide support for onsite injections and overdose as needed and as appropriate
3. Greet clients, reinforce site protocols, monitor area outside of the site as needed
4. Act as a resource to, and advocate for, individuals accessing the CTS
6. Participate in evaluation processes related to the CTS and people accessing the services.
7. Work within an anti-racism, anti-oppression, and culturally safe framework
8. Work as an active member of the CTS Team
- Past lived experience
- Demonstrated experience working with persons who use drugs and people who are vulnerable, and may be experiencing homelessness and or underhoused
- Relevant education
- Understanding of anti-racism, anti-oppression, and culturally safety
- Working knowledge of a wide variety of community resources especially those related to drug use, homelessness, and mental health issues
- Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge and understanding of community health centres
- Flexible, able to work evenings and/or weekends and Holidays as required
