**ACCOUNTABILITY**

Accountable to the Manager of Information Technology

**JOB SUMMARY**

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring availability/performance of MS SQL Server and MySQL databases. Monitors/maintains databases, designs/troubleshoots scheduled jobs, stored procedures, queries and reports. Assist the Information Technology team with various projects and troubleshooting.

**BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary education in computer technology or equivalent and/or 1-2 years of related experience
- Understanding of development environments and toolsets that require writing to data tables
- Knowledge and experience in managing MS SQL including SSIS, SSRS, MySQL
- Knowledge of Microsoft Navision and C/Side a definite asset
- Knowledge of PHP in Web Development an asset
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Able to manage multi-tasks and multi-projects in a fast-paced environment

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**1.** **Monitors and ensures availability/performance of client and Marco databases.**

**2.** **Proactively monitors the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime**

**3.** **Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout, upgrades and migration.**

4. Performs database server tuning, space management and profiling

5. Designs and troubleshoots scheduled jobs, stored procedures, queries and reports

6. Proactively monitors and tests database information for accuracy

7. Investigates and suggests methods to improve quality and performance of the SQL server.

8. Makes additions and edits database information as directed.
