**ROLE OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Vice President People, Culture and Organizational Effectiveness and as part of the Quality Patient Safety & Risk (QPSR) team, the Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Risk supports the development, implementation and evaluation of the Quality, Patient Safety and Risk operational workplans that are aligned to strategic priorities. They develop and coordinate an integrated approach to quality in a manner that promotes psychological safety, through the ownership and leadership of quality improvement initiatives, and the overseeing of quality and safety programs that are patient safety centric. They support the development, implementation, and management of NHH’s risk management plan in addition to working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to mitigate, avoid and manage risks.

The Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Risk also leads, plans, supports, and evaluates reviews of patient safety incidents, serious and critical incidents or any other incidents that may lead to complaint investigations or medical and legal review, which may sometimes require immediate and accurate attention. The Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Risk is responsible for various work streams as agreed, such as Accreditation, Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity, or as otherwise deemed important in the furtherance of NHH’s Quality, Patient Safety and Risk agenda.

The Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Risk is data driven and supports the development, tracking, analysis, interpretation and evaluation of quality, patient safety and risk metrics whilst also encouraging relevant stakeholders in the use of data and evidence-based decision making.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Act as a trusted and reliable advisor on matters related to quality, patient safety and risk.
- Promote the use of the quality improvement methods and tools for program-based projects and reinforcing alignment with strategic initiatives and corporate objectives.
- Train teams and individuals on the use of quality improvement processes and tools as required to support continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with the decision support team in identifying quality and patient safety issues including analyzing for underlying causes.
- Promote a culture of safety and risk awareness across NHH including keeping current on relevant trends.
- Play a key role in support program-based projects including attendance at QPCs, assisting teams with identifying, measuring, analysing and presentation of quality data.
- Support patient experience as necessary including providing advice and support on complex patient complaints.
- Play an active role in the development, monitoring, tracking and evaluation of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs), Patient Safety Plans and any other initiatives required to ensure a culture of continued quality improvement and patient safety.
- Supports the development, implementation, maintenance, evaluations, and improvement of policies, procedures and associated frameworks and infrastructure.
- Provide risk management support and advice as needed regarding high-risk situations, complex cases and patient safety matters.
- Contribute to the development, facilitation or successful utilization of risk management tools and frameworks such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, safeguard analysis, Lean, project management etc. as required.
