Provides guidance and information to FortisBC staff, government officials, property owners, land developers and other interested parties regarding right-of-way land use and pipeline matters, including permit review and approval, proposed subdivisions, rezoning, right-of-way, road closures, release of rights, pipeline crossing and land development.
Liaises with property owners/agents and/or coordinates the removal of encroachments from FortisBC rights-of-way to protect the Company’s interests. Enforces the Company’s rights, policies and standards on unauthorized activities which are potential hazards to the pipeline and right-of-way.
Coordinates the development of projects affecting the pipeline and right-of-way; collaborate with land developers and government officials regarding proposals affecting the pipeline and right-of-way. Represents FortisBC at public and closed meetings; provides related advice and guidance in accordance with established standards, practices and procedures.
Collaborate with external organizations regarding proposed electrical installations in the proximity of FortisBC facilities to ensure requirements adhered to; provide technical guidance to contractors, consultants, property owners and others.
Participates in planning, implementing and maintaining right of way information data system (MLR) and public awareness program; plans and implements legal postings of rights-of-way.
Ensures the Company’s interest in rights-of-way and property are analyzed and documented, and develops and recommends approval conditions for right-of-way modifications and for release of rights. Provides assistance in reviewing and updating company standards and policies to ensure compliance.
Conducts site investigations as required.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with established safety rules and regulations and participates in workplace safety initiatives as required.
Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties, which do not affect the rating of the job. Requirements
Completion of a recognized post-secondary technologist diploma program in an appropriate engineering technology or equivalent supplemented by courses in land use and property management.
Certified at the technologist level, by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.
3 years directly related, relevant experience.
Interpersonal, negotiating and organizational skills.
Oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Valid British Columbia Driver’s License.
