**Position Summary**:
The Lead Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI) Inspector is responsible for the implementation and stewardship of NWR’s Pressure Equipment Integrity Management systems for all static equipment (reactors, columns, pressure vessels, fired equipment, heat exchangers, storage tanks, etc.) and piping components. Accountabilities include ensuring compliance to all regulatory and code requirements and stewarding NWR’s Owner User Program with the understanding that safety, integrity and reliability are of prime importance. This role will work very closely with the Chief Inspector and report to the Lead Pressure Equipment Integrity Engineer.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides day to day leadership and direction for the Pressure Equipment Integrity Inspectors and is a role model/leader for safe work practices;
- Works with the Chief Inspector and engineering team to coordinate corrosion and asset integrity management systems using a risk-based inspection approach for static equipment and piping systems;
- Ensures compliance with Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (Owner/User Manual) in accordance with Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) requirements;
- Accountable to deliver/execute the annual inspection program through the NWR Inspectors and Contract Inspection Team;
- Develops the annual inspection budget and is the contract interface for the contract inspection Team;
- Provides technical support to Operations during the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and plant start-up to ensure static equipment and piping systems are operated properly and within the defined operating limits;
- Provides technical support for the design, selection, repair, and alteration of pressure vessels, tanks, piping, and relief valves in accordance with the applicable ASME and API codes and NWR’s engineering standard as required;
- Updates and maintains corrosion manuals during the life cycle of the refinery;
- Monitors Integrity Operating Windows (IOW’s) and assist Operating Refinery in defining safe operating limits for static equipment and piping systems;
- Correlates various condition monitoring data streams for evaluation during the risk-ranking of corrosion circuits and pressure equipment;
- Implements the management of NWR’s asset integrity software and ensure all inspection records are kept up to data and properly filed in NWR’s Document Management tool;
- Performs shop inspection of packaged mechanical static equipment and piping for selected critical packages before shipment;
- Acts as owner representative for hold and witness points as per inspection & test plans (ITPs) and NWR’s acceptance management processes;
- Provides owner review and acceptance for mechanical turnover completion packages; maintains asset integrity by completing required inspection and non-destructive testing;
- Provides inspection input for planning routine maintenance and turnaround jobs; directs on field inspection activities in new and existing facilities, including emergency repair activities and off-site inspections;
- Provides inspection consultation and guidance as mechanical integrity Subject Matter Expert, liaising with operations, maintenance, engineering and technical employees on a day-to-day basis;
- Directs NWR and Contract inspectors during outages, including TA’s, to execute inspection program; continuously seeks opportunities to improve equipment reliability;
- Liaises with the TA planning team to provide input into the inspection scope and execution plans during the TA planning process;
- Participates in the development and review of written procedures to assure the integrity of pressure equipment; conducts or participates in root cause failure analysis studies;
- Calculates renewal thickness of pressure equipment and evaluation of remaining life; participates in and reviews Fitness for Service Assessments to API 579-1/ASME FFS-1;
- All other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR’s Core Competencies to drive results and a high performing culture;
- Diploma in Mechanical, Materials Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a significant component in a refining, petrochemical, or heavy oil upgrading facility;
- Certification to API 510 and API 570 required while certif
