**Key responsibilities**
- Places orders as per requisitions from the Production Planners, Production Supervisors, Customer Service Representatives and other authorized personnel.
- Responsible for all aspects of the Purchasing Department functions such as: following up on the orders and keeping the track of shipment dates, ETAs, ETDs, etc. as well as updating the ERP System and notifying related parties.
- Set-up and Maintain Purchasing files as required.
- Ensure new suppliers are set-up properly, by filing and updating Supplier Quality Records.
- Helps complete the process of supplier evaluation.
- Provide updates to internal departments regarding supplier shipments.
- Negotiate replacement or credit for defective materials with suppliers.
- Request quotes and arrange transportation for incoming shipments of raw materials and purchases of equipment.
- Handles material deviation reports.
- Establish, monitor, and attain quality and service goals for the department.
- Acquire samples of materials and data sheets for the Sales Department upon request.
- Draw on a well-developed knowledge base to provide technical support for Sales and Production, by keeping informed of new products and related services through industry publications and frequents contact with supplier technical and sales representatives.
- Fields visits or calls from outside Sales representatives from various potential suppliers.
- Forward vendor pricing updates to Estimating.

**What you bring to Ampco**
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar position working in a manufacturing environment.
- Good problem-solving skills. Be able to think on your feet, show initiative and provide helpful solutions.
- You are reliable, punctual and conscientious.
- Patience, with the ability to work calm under pressure.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize a busy workload with time-sensitive deadlines.
- Highly organized and able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent work ethic, self-motivated and driven.
- The ability to read and speak English fluently, communicate effectively.
- A complete resume showing work experience and education.
- Work well in a team and build strong working relationships with the departments your role interacts with.
- Be pro-active and solutions focused.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.
