We need a permanent full-time Communications Specialist in our Environmental & Sustainable Development team at our Campbell River office. You will report to the Sustainable Development Director.

**A day in the life**:
We rely on you to translate our thoughts and ideas into engaging and clear communications. You are going to be collaborating with employees at all levels, our global communications team, colleagues at other companies, First Nations or the public. You are the key contact for internal and external messaging on a variety of social media platforms and methods. If you are starting out your career, you are going to learn strategy, communications planning, and a lot about aquaculture. Your team is knowledgeable, supportive and has a great sense of humour, they look forward to meeting you. **Key Accountabilities**:
- Support, advise, and deliver to the Sustainable Development Director and other departments proactive and reactive internal and external communications while being mindful of the day to yearly roadmap that drive outcomes for Cermaq:
- With a strong understanding of the production cycle, translate technical and operational information into communications material that is easily understood and accessible.
- Create transparency of information that builds trust and long-term relationships with First Nations, Governments, stakeholders including employees and communities.
- Deliver on Cermaq’s key narratives including the Employer brand and support the company’s engagement goals while working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, tight and changing deadlines.
- Deliver a proactive level of service that builds trust to meet internal and external party needs with an attention to detail, accuracy, engaging content, and timelines met.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information that respects the timing, tone, and audience for communicating.
- Seek content from other departments to maintain a frequent and well branded presence on internal communication channels and external including social media.
- Provides colleagues with media relations advice and counsel.
- Creates and executes individual communications plans for specific corporate and departmental initiatives including with team members, global teams, internal customers, First Nations, and partners.
**Education, experience, and skills**:
- A degree with specialization in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline, is preferred or relevant experience.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
