water testing, laboratory quality control, report preparation, and biological validation testing.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs analysis of wastewater samples (for example, coliform analysis by membrane filtration, UVT, total suspended solids, pH, and iron) using standard laboratory procedures and techniques within well-established guidelines with little supervision, including generation of sample reports.
- Completes weekly QA/QC, including basic calibration or verification of lab equipment, cleaning, autoclaving, inventory, media preparation, data entry, and other items related to water analyses.
- Carries out a limited number of technical support functions in a scientific/research environment.
- Participates in validation and other performance testing, including set-up, operation, and data collection.
- Works safely. Receives and utilizes specialized safety training.
- Interprets work assignment instructions and seeks clarity.
- Interacts cross-functionally with internal departments such as Engineering, Traffic, Sales, and Research.
- Logs and reports timesheets and expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Current student in an undergraduate Science program
- Laboratory analysis experience (microbiology and/or chemistry/analytical)
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency, mathematical capabilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate to all levels of personnel throughout the organization.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Mechanical aptitude considered an asset
