EXEL Contracting is a leader in landscape maintenance and construction in Ottawa. We are currently seeking a Purchaser who will perform a variety of tasks and duties to ensure EXEL obtains the goods and services it needs at the best possible price and timeframe.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Liaise with suppliers for construction and maintenance jobs, garage supplies, as well as office services and supplies.
- Negotiate prices and timelines.
- Complete orders and coordinate shipments for plant products, soil, aggregates, and other items, as required.
- Arrange deliveries and pick-ups or returns.
- Issue purchase orders and load them into the materials database (Civalgo).
- Review invoices for appropriate quantities and pricing.
- Assist in large volume and big-ticket item purchases with the Owner and Operations Manager.
- Complete an annual update on supplier pricing, new products available, and products of special interest. Work with the Operations Manager and Owner to set cost-savings goals for the upcoming year.
- Complete regular reviews of pricing and agreements, and report to the Operations Manager monthly on cost-saving activities undertaken.
- Maintain relationships with multiple suppliers for regular purchases.
- Work with cellular provider on contract renewals, new devices, and ongoing services.
- Maintain an inventory of company-branded items and PPE.
- Liaise with the Dispatcher to order equipment rentals and co-ordinate returns.
- Maintain a list of annual subscriptions/memberships and complete renewals.
- Maintain the materials database (Civalgo) - verify receipt of items and quantities and complete price validation.
- Undertake inventory control measures and maintain an understanding of items on hand.
- Negotiate volume discounts and rebates and track relevant purchases.
- Track weekly fuel prices and communicate to the management team.
- Attend industry events.

**Requirements and Qualifications**
- 2+ years of proven experience in procurement
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize job responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience with Sage would be considered an asset

**Job Type**
- Full-time, permanent

**Salary**: $37,385.37-$70,915.61 per year
