**Position Description Summary**:
This position is responsible for safely, effectively, and efficiently following quality assurance procedures and conducting all required tests and inspections. The position of Quality Inspector is directly accountable to the Quality Manager for driving results that contributes to the Company’s success in the following key business areas: Safety, Quality and Delivery. This position is responsible for conducting quality control tests, calibrating equipment, and conducting quality inspections.

**Position Requirements**:

- High School diploma, or equivalent
- Demonstrated competence in all quality control laboratory and quality control production requirements
- Able to communicate in English effectively (read, write, verbal and listening comprehension)
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Able to use measurement tools (measuring tape, caliper, etc.) in both Imperial and Metric as well as calibration tools
- Good vision for quality inspection including ability to distinguish colours
- Self-starter who is able to achieve customer satisfaction by meeting commitments and taking accountability; being willing to cross-train to gain additional skills and use job knowledge; and taking a common-sense approach to problem-solving
- Must work well under pressure; able to work productively both independently and on a team to meet deadlines
- Able to make decisions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. /23 kgs
- Customer-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality

**Working Hours**:
The facility works on a schedule of an eight (8) hour rotating shift format, 7 days per week and rotates on a monthly basis. **Employees in this position will be required to work 6 of the 7 days.** Given the nature of our business and due to customer needs, alternate hours may be required.

**Job-specific tasks**:

- Perform quality control tests and record results (weight tolerance; colour scan; weatherability/heat resistance; shrinkage; screwable strength; profile scan; hand bend/”smash”/”whamo” tests; crush/vise test; impact test)
- Correctly calibrate equipment and record results (caliper, square, measuring tape, variable height impact tester, timer, thermometer)
- Perform all required quality assurance procedures including control production drawings; creating monthly quality control summary reports; and releasing “on hold” products for shipments/receiving
- Inspect packaging including labels and packaged product to ensure product is as per specification
- Perform visual quality control checks including checking finish, if product is straight, square, and correct in colour; record results
- Perform dimension quality control checks to ensure product meets specifications by using calipers; performing flex tests; comparing product to drawings; performing Go/No Go tests; and any other quality control tests as required, and record results
- Complete production reports (machine speed, number of pieces produced)
- Review work/production order, including special instructions
- Prepare material by identifying material by colour
- Perform housekeeping by keeping work area clean and free of hazards; participate in PVC recovery program
- Train other employees, as assigned
