Seasonal Labourer

We are currently seeking an energetic and movitated individual to join our Public Works team as a Seasonal Labourer. Key responsibilities include providing support and a variety of maintenance construction activities, snow/ice removal, maintenance and repair services to roads, bridges, culverts, drainage and other road works maintenance.

This is a seasonal position to a maximum of 8 months per calendar year, anticipated for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
You have a general knowledge of vehicles, equipment and materials used in road maintenance and operations. You have demonstrated good communication and public relation skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Preference will be given to those who possess a minimum of Grade 12 and one (1) year related experience. Chainsaw training, certification in the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 and First Aid & CPR/AED are an asset. Possession of a minimum class D’Z’ Endorsement Driver’s License, or ability to obtain is preferred.

The position requires the operation of equipment and undertaking of construction and maintenance projects in extreme weather conditions as well as moderate to heavy physical demands related to manual labour with regular exposure to dirt, dust, oil, grease, noise, vibration, weather conditions, hazardous materials and chemicals.

Applicants may be required to complete written, practical and/or technical testing as part of the interview process.

Upon final selection, the successful applicant will be required to provide, at their own expense, a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check from the Ontario Provincial Police or appropriate police force as well as a clean Driver’s Abstract.
