Champlain Regional College is seeking the services of a LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (BIOLOGY), to work on a regular full-time position at Champlain Regional College (Lennoxville Campus).

FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Academic Dean, Catherine Filteau, the incumbent assists the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluation of student laboratory work.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Use of the Laboratory and Equipment
1. Ensure the laboratory equipment is ready to be used by students and teachers and ensure that students can properly perform the experiments in providing assistance and technical support.
2. Prepare chemicals and apparatus required for in-class demonstrations and store them after demonstrations.
3. Ensure the laboratory equipment remains in good condition and is stored adequately.

Support and Administrative Work
4. Collaborate with the Department Coordinator on the planning and management of the department budget and ensure the laboratory inventory is well managed to avoid a shortage of supplies.
5. Prepare purchase requisitions or work orders when required.
6. Ensure the department has all the information needed to update class demonstrations, laboratory equipment and experimental protocols and participate in the choice of equipment in order to maximize the use of the budget.

Health and safety
7. Ensure that safety regulations are respected by all users of the laboratory equipment and facilities, maintain the Biology laboratories in a working and safe condition and maintain the safety data sheets (SDS) for chemicals used by the Biology department.
8. Dispose of waste materials in an appropriate manner and through proper channels.
Perform other related duties requested by the Biology teachers or his or her supervisor.

**Requirements**:
**Education**:
Must have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

**Requirements**:
Must be proficient in English and in French, orally and written.

Must demonstrate good computer literacy and be comfortable with software such as Word and Excel along with data collection software.

Must demonstrate a good knowledge of College-level Biology and be self-disciplined in his or her work.

**Salary Scale**: $24.21 - $32.32
