Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License.
- Able to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Able to travel for extended periods of time provincially, nationally and internationally as required with limited notice.
- Physically capable of performing the duties assigned to the position.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Graduation from an approved Resource Management program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Significant demonstrated experience working in wildfire operations including experience as a Helitac Officer or equivalent from another jurisdiscrition.
- Supervisory experience and leadership skills, including basic training and mentoring skills.
- Strong stress management skills, with the ability to work under stressful conditions for extended periods.
- Knowledge of aircraft operations, related procedures and wildfire behavior.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Decision-making skills, with ability to organize, plan and prioritize.

Desired:

- Knowledge of related policy, legislation and guidelines applicable to fire management.
- Completion of level 1, 2, or 3 training to become a Air Attack Officer
- Certified as a Air Attack Officer with the Manitoba Wildfire Service, and/or a certified Air Attack Officer-N (Nationally certified) with another agency.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Fire Operations Manager of Aviation Services, the Air Attack Officer will supervise and coordinate aviation resources in support of the Manitoba Wildfire Service. The Air Attack Officer is responsible to ensure the safe, effective, efficient and orderly use of a variety of fixed and rotary wing aircraft for wildfire and emergency response.
