Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Human Resource Generalist at our Stoney Creek facility.

Job Summary & Reporting Structure:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing HR admin and guidance to client groups (Salary, Non-union and Unionized employees) with regards to consultation on employee relations issues, performance management issues, recruiting and selection as well as provides direction in the interpretation of policies and procedures regarding a wide variety of personnel actions. To ensure correct and timely wages to hourly and salary employees, maintain all necessary records, respond to employee queries on pay/benefits related matters.

**Responsibilities**:
Employee Relations:

- Confers with management/or administrative positions to assess needs, solve problems, explain services, and interpret policies, laws and regulations
- Consults with department Manager/supervisor regarding employee relations concerns and issues, such as management and employee rights and responsibilities to reduce conflict
- In conjunction with Plant leadership monitors and administers grievances and dispute resolution processes and attempts to effect equitable solutions prior to formal grievances being filed
- Employee recreation activities arranging staff luncheons
- Ordering of flowers for bereavement and celebration of life events
- Educates employees/Supervisors, managers on various policy, Collective Agreement related issues through one-on-one meetings

Plant Level Management Support:

- Coordination of employee training initiatives maintain records for TS and ISO
- Hiring of unionized employees through direct hire and temporary services
- Coordinates and conducts initial employee orientation sessions for new hires detailing benefits, Policies and Procedures, Collective Agreements etc.
- Process and participate in employee terminations
- Compose a variety of written procedures, correspondence and memorandums, completes a variety of reports, summaries and analyses
- Prepare monthly Business Operating System statistics and analytics

Health and Safety:

- Develop ongoing health and safety initiatives and monitoring to assure systems are implemented and maintained.
- Provide interpretation and guidance to ensure compliance with OHSA.

Payroll & Personnel:

- Act as a backup for payroll, benefits and associated reporting as needed
- Participate and support in resolving pay concerns and issues
- In Conjunction with the Department Manager, ensures new employees receive orientation.
- Processes paperwork and handles inquiries from Service Canada
- Prepares absentee reports based upon time and attendance history
- Assists with the preparation and participate in absenteeism disciplines for department supervisors
- Provide Monthly Business Operating metrics

Recruitment and Selection:

- Prepare job questions and post the position
- Interpret and provide guidance for managers to fully utilize the pre-screening test
- New employee process (preparation checklist, coordinate and conducts initial employee orientation sessions for new hires detailing benefits, Policies and Procedures)

Qualifications:

- College Diploma or Equivalent working experience
- Holds or is in pursuit of CHRL
- Demonstrated intermediate level of HRIS and Training & Development systems
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in an HR role in a manufacturing environment
