**Position Summary**:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting all NEW’s marketing and communications initiatives through a mix of strategy, tactical execution, storytelling and content development. This role requires an independent, impeccable communicator who is savvy in marketing and communications best practices, loves to take initiative and has incredible attention to detail. The Specialist will work with various cross-functional teams to execute succinct, goal-driven content andproduce blogs, articles, videos and other materials as needed. They will also play an important role in developing and maintaining relationships for the organization and telling meaningful stories that connect with donors. They will utilize our social media accounts and community events to promote the organization, its services and impact.

This position is located at our office at 128A Sterling Road, Toronto, but requires travel across all of our locations and to community events.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Create all marketing resources for our Employment team, Settlement Services, English Language School, Youth Job Connection, and other services within the agencies.
- Website/Social media platforms:

- Update a SEO-optimized content strategy plan and brand guidelines for our recently re-designed website and social platforms.
- Design/create posts and write articles for the website as well as social media platforms.
- Create flyers to promote NEW’s programs as well as events (i.e., webinars)
- Updating our website graphics as needed (monthly banner update, button, event page, etc.).
- Communicating via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn with interested parties.
- Using analytics to determine the best use of marketing and media.
- Create a monthly calendar for our on-site workshops that support youth clients and job seekers generally.
- Write a monthly newsletter to more than 5,000 recipients over Mailchimp.
- Plan and coordinate outreach activities that are intended to identify, capture the attention and interest of, and foster involvement of newcomers, at-risk youth, unemployed and underemployed individuals, Ontario Works/ Ontario Disability Support Program recipients and any individual experiencing any barrier of employment.
- Provide research and support activities in the development and execution of outreach strategies and activities to support the objectives of the Agency Communications Strategy.
- Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
- Communicate matters of importance to members of Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto Family and Community Services in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Work with the Executive Director/Management Team on special events to raise our community profile as well as the Annual General Meeting.
- Operate within a Sustainable Livelihoods Framework: The framework focuses on understanding the context that creates and perpetuates a client’s vulnerability to poverty, in order to support more active, strategic interventions. It focuses on a client’s assets rather than deficits. Assets can range from access to the basics of food, finances, and shelter to social networks to individual skill and knowledge to self-confidence, self-esteem, and personal resilience

**Qualifications**:

- Three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
- Three (3) years of experience in designing and creating visually appealing program reports, marketing and promotion materials, annual and donor reports.
- Technological competency required:

- Squarespace
- Hootsuite
- Mailchimp
- Eventbrite
- Zoom webinar
- Canva (and/or InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop)
- iMovie or Premiere Pro
- Google Analytics

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $27.06 per hour
