This position is Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, for 8 weeks.

To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria including (but not limited to):

- Be between the age of 15-30.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Summary**: Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor the Youth Worker implements, and reports on youth program activity, including case management and workshop delivery. Incumbent must have the ability to work in a dynamic programming/service delivery environment. Programming and service delivery will utilize or access a majority of agency’s resources.

**MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING**:

- Setting up and running projects.
- Mentoring individual participants.
- Maintaining confidential client records.
- Facilitating workshops in community settings and at YES Employment Services.
- Working with other organizations, such as schools and community groups.
- Ongoing reporting on activities.
- Assist with delivery of pre-employment training.
- Assist with other duties assigned.
- Developing, facilitating, teaching, and training of evidence-based and culturally safe programming that is approved by YES Employment Services leadership.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, problem-solving, decision-making and liaison skills.
- Ability to work independently while being capable of collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assisting with referrals, assessments, and group facilitation.
- Help coordinate both youth programs.
- Update and organize internal database.
- Update the internal database CATS system.
- Support units when staff are absent such as during vacation.
- Other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.

**Qualifications**: Social service field degree or diploma required or working towards. Experience with helping services, familiar with counselling effectively with appropriate sensitivity to the client group. Ability to market programs and services. Excellent organizational skills to lead groups as required. Proficiency with MS Office and office computer equipment. Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle required. Must be able to obtain business insurance.
