**This role will be part of the PHSA Learning & Development (previously Clinical Education) team and requires experience as a Social Work, Dietician, Physiotherapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, or Occupational Therapist.’**

As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Allied Health Educator focuses on development of education strategy to support new graduates, students, employed students, and internationally hired staff across PHSA. The role utilizes educational/curriculum theory and knowledge of generalized allied health practice to design, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs and resources, teaching and learning principles and processes. The Allied Health Educator consults, confers, and collaborates with program and team members as well as other Educators in promotion of continuous quality improvement, resolution of education issues, and coordination of activities required for progressive educational programs in the context of workplace learning. The Allied Health Educator provides education services including individual and group learning workshops to allied health staff, and nursing staff across PHSA programs, and professional practice.
**What you’ll do**
- Utilizes educational/curriculum theory and knowledge of specialized clinical practice to develop, implement, and evaluate, education program, material, and delivery in collaboration with program and Professional Practice Leadership; education programs such as, new Allied Health or inter-professional theory, orientation/training programs for new graduates, interventions, skills and competencies, educational support programs, and continuing education sessions and Educator Pathway.
- Utilizes a variety of teaching and learning strategies to support education activities with individuals and groups including facilitating groups, coaching, mentoring, conducting formal/informal presentations and demonstrations, coordinating introduction of new skills, arranging and providing in-service sessions and using educational technology and self-directed learning methods to implement planned programs. Facilitates scheduling of education sessions by collaborating with team members to determine times, frequency, and duration to ensure effective use of resources; maintains records and identifies/schedules team member attendance at update sessions.
- Supports preceptors/preceptees, mentors/mentees and clinical programs using teaching and learning principles and a program planning and evaluation process to meet the identified educational needs of staff.
- Develops, reviews, and modifies learning resources such as new grad workshops, checklists and reference documents using established educational standards, ensuring content reflects the most up-to-date, peer reviewed, evidence-based best practice. Strives to match content and delivery method. Provides feedback to other developers to ensure resources are current, relevant, cost effective and coordinated.
- Participates in the evaluation of the effectiveness of education programs, activities and resources by analyzing learning outcomes using program/resource evaluation, learner behaviors, utilization statistics, and reviewing feedback to determine opportunities for quality improvement.
- Facilitates learning by acting as a resource and demonstrates expertise and leadership in education through methods such as reviewing literature and developments in technology and equipment, consulting with experts, identifying new theories/trends/education programs, developing new/revised standards, and presenting educational sessions based upon specialized body of knowledge to enhance staff professional development.
- Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities through methods such as evaluating effect of changes in practice, generating recommendations for alternative approaches. Initiates strategies to improve and promote delivery of high-quality educational services.
- Leads Communities of Practices as a resource by providing input and suggestions related to education implications and group processes of new initiatives to ensure that educational needs are addressed. Documents educational process and utilization statistics by maintaining database and records, and by providing written and verbal reports to demonstrate accountability and to continuously improve the quality of clinical education services.
