Payroll / Clerical Assistant

Payroll / Clerical Assistant at Hardcastle Group ensures that employees are compensated for their work. The Payroll / Clerical Assistant will be required to gather all information pertaining to work patterns and salary deductions, and to ensure that this is captured accurately in Exaktime and Gary Jonas for Construction software. You should also provide employees with insight into payroll activities and work to resolve their queries, as needed. To be successful as a payroll / clerical assistant, you should have an affinity for numbers and a passion for promoting business operations. An outstanding payroll /clerical assistant will identify and correct payroll-related errors before these affect the salary run.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:*
- Gathering and examining timesheets to ensure their validity.
- Importing data into Gary Jonas for Construction software.
- Capturing approved annual and sick leave.
- Ensuring that compensation for overtime work is calculated at the appropriate rate and that annual leave is calculated accordingly, if applicable.
- Confirming that legally mandated and optional deductions have been processed correctly.
- Preparing and distributing electronic paychecks.
- Performing all tasks well before the pay run to ensure that employees are compensated and notified on time.
- Addressing queries about payroll-related issues.
- Working to resolve discrepancies in payments as a matter of urgency.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet company’s mandate.

**Qualifications**:*
- High school diploma.
- Completion of a bookkeeping or similar course is highly advantageous.
- Previous experience as a Payroll Assistant, preferably within a company of a similar size 100-150 employees.
- Excellent data entry, data cleaning, and math skills.
- 2+ years proven working experience
- Knowledge of legislation and procedures pertaining to salary deductions.
- Capacity to keep track of numerous ongoing tasks.
- Adherence to all prescribed ethical guidelines, including confidentiality.
- Strong sense of integrity.
- Able to work well with senior executives, team, customers, and suppliers.

**Physical & Psychological Working Conditions/Requirements**:*
- The work is performed in an office environment which requires long periods of sitting and use of computer screens. Minimal lifting, bending, and crouching required.
- Deadline pressures, stress of multi-tasking, communicating, and interacting diplomatically with clients, supervisors, and co-workers in regard to responsibilities, job progress, issues are demanding aspects.
- Respect, honesty, and sound work ethics are important attributes.
- Accuracy, attention to detail and focus on day-to-day activities and interactions required.
- Professional demeanor at all times when dealing with clients, employees, and others.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
